Mrs. Alabanza-de la Cruz, School Counselor

My role is to provide support to all our students, families, community and staff. The areas that I will focus on are the following: personal/social, academic and career development. I will work closely with teachers, parents, support staff and community agencies to identify issues that may be interfering with our student's learning process and collaborate a plan to address his/hers issues. My goal and I know your goal also, is for our students to be successful and reach their highest potential. I will be working on attendance concerns, facilitating our Response to Intervention (RTI) RTI Procedure Flow Chart meetings, 504 Plans and building on our goals, that Character Counts.

As an elementary counselor, it is my passion and objective to assist students in reaching their fullest potential and become effective learners. My goal is to complement the learning environment in your classrooms by using a child-centered, preventative, and developmental approach. My counseling services will be implemented with students by way of individual/small group counseling sessions, guidance lessons, read-alouds in the classroom and push-in support.

I would love to continue on strengthening at Normal Heights Elementary a Comprehensive Counseling Program, focusing on assisting all the student's needs and creating a PROACTIVE school environment.
